Donations - Where Your Money Goes



Many EB Children are in a race against time. It is only through more intense and faster research that we can save the lives of these amazing kids. Your donation to EBTrek 2001 that will help make the miracle of healthy lives for all EB kids a reality.

All funds donated through EBTrek 2001 will go directly to EBMRF (Epidermolysis Bullosa Medical Research Foundation.) EBMRF is a volunteer nonprofit foundation. It is unique in that it pays no salaries and all work for the charity is done on a volunteer basis. Consequently, an ongoing goal of EBMRF is to have 99 percent of all funds donated to go directly to EB research.

Because EBMRF is a completely non-profit foundation, your donation to EBMRF is tax deductible. While internet donations are possible through the EBMRF website, postal donations are preferred. Mailed donations allow for easier tracking of your pledge by EB Trek, and will also make it more convienient for you to claim your donation as tax deductible.

Day 8 – June 25, 2001 Boise, ID to Fruitland, ID 57.83 miles  16.97 average speed 3:30pm departure 8:15pm arrival   3:24:38 total ride time  507.37 total trek miles             I'm not sure if whoever said that all good things must end is right, but I do know that our stay with the Bates Family had to end sooner or later. It felt a little like we were leaving home for the second time, but we had to wait until the afternoon to feel that way.  What I mean is our plan to get an early start was foiled quickly by bike repairs and our general stupidity.             When we finally did get off, we each felt like a million bucks because of the weekend of rest. Day 32 – Thursday, July 19, 2001 Bodega Bay, CA – Lafayette, CA 78.70 Miles 12.51 Average Speed 6:08:32 ride time 9AM Departure 6PM Arrival 2087.79 Total Trek Miles             Today would conclude the second and longest leg of the trip, sandwiched between a day of rest in Victoria, B.C. and a four-day weekend in Lafayette, CA.  The day broke with heavy fog and by the time of our departure the air still hung heavy around us.  The ride was mostly costal, except for a 20-mile jaunt inland littered with rolling brown hills.  Our excitement helped us up the hills as little as excitement can.  Each ascent was rewarded with a winding decent amid eucalyptus and pine and redwood.  We met the coast again at Stinson Beach. After that, grueling hills awaited us for the next 20 miles until we dropped down into Sausalito and over the Golden Gate Bridge.  We met...
